Our Christmas Variety Show which was a huge success. Over €1,450 was raised, of which €1,075 will go towards the fundraising for our sister school in Lusaka in Zambia. €375 will go towards the Transition Year Musical next year.

The Christmas Show had a great variety of Acts.

The show opened with an Arabian Gymnastics Group with a display from Jessa Dyer, Second Year, and Shauna Sugru. They were followed by the Glee Club, organised by their teacher Claire Mc Bride. They were followed by Niamh Whelan, 3rd Year, Kate Walley, First Year and Sasha Noonan, Second Year, who all performed ‘Lean On Me’

The Fifth and Sixth Year Classes Of St Mary’s Primary School sang ‘A Medley of The Monkeys Hits’

Niamh Whelan then sang "Time To say Good Bye" and was followed by the Song and Dance Tappers. This group, all pupils in the school and directed by Ger Nolan, performed "Rock Your Party".

The Canbelto’s Ladies Choir then sang ‘As Long As I Can Sing’ conducted by Jimmy O’ Byrne. They were followed by some Irish Dancing by Shauna and Katie Byrne, both past students.

Lucy O’Byrne, also a past pupil, and performing in the Helix, sang "As If We Never Said Goodbye" from ‘Sunset Boulevard’ and "Feeling Good" from ‘Stop The world I want To Get Off’

Lucy was followed by The Dublin Thunder Cheerleaders, currently all Ireland champions two years running over 5 categories, trained by past pupil, Amy White Lamb.

Cliona Cassidy, international soprano and past pupil, and her accompanist Mr. Rodney Baldwin, performed three songs - Rejoice from Handel's Messiah, The Wexford Carol and O’ Mio Babbino Caro from Puccini's Schicchi

Following an interval, The Arabian Gymnastics Group performed to "Poker Face" and "Bad".  The gymnasts included Aisling Penrose, Jessa Dyer, Ellen Mc Grady, Shauna Sugru and Ellen Cooney. The 5th & 6th Year Students of St Mary’s Primary School then performed "A Pop Medley". There was more Irish Dancing from Shauna and Katie Byrne who performed "Lord Of The Dance".

The Glee Club then sang “Silent Night” and “All I Want for Christmas”. Niamh Whelan sang another solo ‘ Smile’. The Canbelto’s Ladies Choir sang ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’.

The Dublin Thunder Cheerleaders performed another routine. Sasha Noonan, second year, sang "When I Look at You". Song And Dance Group, choreographed by Carol O’ Byrne, performed to "Bad Boys". The Song and Dance group, all current students, included Ericka Andrews, Casey Bruen, Kelly Myers, Gemma Judge, Michaela Moriarty, Ciara Byrne, Rachel Morrissey, Aisling Fowler, Emma Burrowes, Ciara Richardson, Emma Maguire, Lauren Williams and Carla Wickham

Cliona Cassidy and accompanist Rodney Baldwin sang Balfe's Marble Halls from The Bohemian Girl, followed by The Lass of Aughrim and finished with Schubert's "Ave Maria". The 4th Year Choir, conducted by their music teacher Marese Sheridan, performed “Jingle Bell Rock”, “Rocking Around The Christmas Tree”, “Last Christmas” and “Rudolf The Red Nosed Rain Deer.”

The finale to this fantastic show had Cliona Cassidy Singing “O Holy Night.” With the 4th Year Choir and accompanied by pianist, Rodney Baldwin.

The Show was truly fantastic and everyone enjoyed a most memorable night.
