Halloween Fancy Dress
Halloween Fancy Dress
The Sixth Years working with Ms. Pauline Griffin, Year Head for Sixth Year, organised a Fundraising Fancy Dress Day in aid of our Sister School in Lusaka, Zambia.
This optional Fancy Dress occasion created great interest and excitement amongst the girls. Some were cautious. Some couldn't wait and it showed. Was this an opportunity for stardom? Could this be the start of a new career? The questions began to surface as some wondered what other people would think of them in fancy dress and were very cautious about the whole day. Furthermore, would other friends turn up in fancy dress? Would I be the only one in Fancy Dress? Could I travel to school in fancy dress? Others did not know what to think, but there was great anticipation in the air as the event was well advertised throughout the school.
It was a great day for all those who arrived in Fancy Dress. All types of costume were present and many people on their way to work looked, wondered and smiled at the various girls in fancy dress waiting at bus stops or at those who were seen walking to school. Some of the teachers were also in Fancy Dress including the Principal. It was certainly a unique experience walking the corridors to see all types of costume walk by.
Needless to say, all the Fancy Dress students enjoyed the occasion, as did all the various onlookers. Those few students who arrived in uniform were disappointed that they had not come in fancy dress. However, all enjoyed the occasion.
To finish the day, the Ms. Tully's LCVP and Mini Company classes organised a disco in the school hall for the First and Second Years. There was food and soft drinks available. All in all, it was great day for everyone involved and many thanks to Ms. Tully for organising a great finish to the day.
Those students who arrived in Fancy Dress rather than in uniform, made a donation in aid of the sister school in Lusaka, Zambia. Initial contributions suggest that over €350 was collected. Well done to all the girls who arrived in fancy dress and who made the day such a memorable occasion.
