Operation Christmas Child
Shoe Box Appeal, November 2008
St. Mary’s Secondary School, Baldoyle, has had a long association with the Shoe Box Appeal. This year, our second year CSPE students organised the project in co-operation with the Religion Department. The teachers involved were Sr. Marie Therese, Ms. Martin and Mr. Fennell. This year proved our most successful collection to date.
A number of students are to be commended for their efforts including Aisling Kane, Andrea Walsh and Alison Eustace from St, Philip’s class and Katie Hand, LeeAnne Bickerdike and Rebecca Sweeney from the St. James class.
To mark the occasion, a special ceremony was held to mark the handover of Christmas boxes to the Samaritan’s Purse.
On Friday morning, all the first, second and fifth years attended a Prayer Service in our school chapel. Ms. Siobhan O’ Connell, the Principal, following a short reflection, congratulated the girls for their great efforts.
The second years formed a human chain linking the school to the collection van and the boxes were passed out student to student. It was a great occasion and the girls are delighted that the Christmas boxes are going to Eastern Europe.
The school was delighted with the efforts and response made by all.
Well done girls and thanks to the teachers involved!
