First Year Tag Rugby Blitz
15th February, Coolmine RFC
15th February, Coolmine RFC
Following Aidan Kearney's successful introduction of rugby during First Year PE, St.Mary's entered their first rugby competition - a Tag Rugby blitz in Coolmine RFC against other teams from the Fingal Area.
St. Mary's had entered two teams and each team played six games lasting between 7 and 10 minutes long. Although this was the girls' first time playing Tag Rugby, one team won five of their games and the other won four games. It was a great success and a great introduction to rugby. Well done to everyone involved.

The girls were very excited and nervous about playing their first game of Tag Rugby. With good weather on their side, both teams got off to a flyer with both recording victories.
Team Japan coached by Mr. Fennell played first and got off to a great start with a confident and strong performance.
Team Canada then, unsure at the beginning of the match, soon got the hang of it and won their first game. Come on St. Mary's
Confidence was high by half time and the girls were enjoying themselves!
By the second half both teams played well and put up a fight!
We were proud of both teams. For a first attempt, the girls were fantastic and each team only lost one game. Looking forward to seeing more rugby develop in St. Mary's.
