Badminton Irish Open 2016
This December Our newly established National Sports Arena and Head Quarters was host to the Irish Badminton Open. The event was a huge success but could not have gone ahead without the assistance of our Transition Year Students who volunteered as Line Judges. Students worked hard judging some very upbeat and intense Badminton matches from Ollypian Medalists and World Champions. When students weren't absorbed in the smooth running of the matches they were working in reception checking in players, organising shuttlecocks, and pollishing the sufface of the courts. What an amazing experience and achievement for our students.
The participation of the students did not go unrecognised. As a result of all the hard work the girls put in to the smooth operation of the tournament, St. Mary was nominated and awarded Badminton School of the Year!
Well done to each and every individual involved, and a special thanks to Mr. Fennel, Mr. Burke, and Ms. Doyle for all their hard work.

To make things a little more exciting our very own Irish Olympian Scott Evans made it to the final... Watch below: What do you think of Mr. Burke as a line Judge?! :-)
