Big Sister
August 2019
August 2019
In St. Mary's the girls of first year and sixth year are paired togetyher to become a big and little sister for the year.
On the first day of the year in August, the year head on both years meet with the girls and explain what is involved with the programme. The big sister helps her first year in anyway she can. From having someone to check in with, to asking her for advice to being friends. The big sister programme creates a bond with the girls that lasts for years.
When meeting your sister for the first time, both years go to the school hall and receive name tags of one half of a famous duo. The sixth year receives one name and the first year will receive the other. This could be anything from Tom and Jerry or Sherlock and Waston.
A game starts to find the other half of your pair. This builds communication skills and teamwork skills. When the girls find each other, they then begin to get to know one another.
