Fingal Mini Company Day 2017

The Transition Years set up a mini company this year as part of their Transition Year (TY) program.

The set up their own business and appointed a sales manager, general manager, production manager and finance manager. There were 8 different TY mini companies with a wide variety of exciting production ideas ranging from:
  • Sented Hearts called "Boladh Bog". The students came up with the idea of a design (A heart) and sented the fabric by soaking cotton wool it in the scent.
  • Denim Bags. The students produced a denim bag and sold it to students.
  • Book Marks. The students sold book marks.
  • Love in a mug. Christmas Mugs filled with sweets and hot chocolate.

The students went to a Fingal market day and the students got to show their products off. The students got to meet the RTE star Gavin Duffy.

The students had the following to say about their experience,

"It helped us become aware of what running a business was like and all the organizing and planning which goes into producing a product." - Rosie Doyle, TY Student 2017

"I thought it was good as it brought us all together and we worked well as a team" - Tara Gibney, TY Student 2017

The TY students are preparing for the School market day which will take place on Wednesday the 20th of December. Students across the School will have the opportunity to buy the TY products from the students.

The following are a few photos taken around the mini company project.
