First Year Basketball

First Year Basketball, 8 November 2013
Unfortunately, our First Year Basketball Team were beaten narrowly by a couple of points by St. Mary's, Glasnevin.  It was a fine performance with excellent performances by Kayleigh Williams, Leah Balmer and Trusta Uchendu.  Better luck next time!
Coaches today were Ms. Lambert assisted by Mr. Burke.

First Year Basketball, Division 1, 27 November 2013
Well done to the First Year Basketball team who won their match against St. Louis, Rathmines by a brilliant score of 62-4.  It was an all-round team performance with everyone playing excellent.  In particular, there were great performances from Maria Long, Ruby Smith, Niamh Nestor, Khristine Marcelo and Ellie Morrissey.  Coach today was Ms. Lambert.  Next up is Skerries.

Great result today, 44 to 4 win, well done girls.
St. Mary's were in dominant form today and got off to a flyer.  By the end of the first quarter, they were 10 nil up. The captain, Maria Long led by example and and well supported by Ruby Smith and Hannah Dent.  All the team played a role in the victory during which the team had a great second quarter to lead 32 nil and they increased it to 40 nil in the third quarter.  Greenhills began to play particularly well in the final quarter as they attempted to reduce arrears.  Despite some fine play, St. Mary's ran out winners 44 to 4.  Well done to all the team - Lauren Kinsella, Ciara Crilly, Nianh Nestor, Amy O' Neill, Hope Sumolo, Khristine Marcelo, Charlotte Smith, eimear Corry, Jennifer Lawless, Niamh Loftus and Ellie Morrissey.  

Maria Long was the top scorer with 16 points, Ruby Smith added 6 points and Hannah Dent scored 4 points. Most of the team scored a couple of points that emphasised the all round team performance from St. Mary's.

The team has now won all their three matches.  Well done Ms. Lambert!
