Ms. Edel Greene
New Principal of St. Mary's
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I am delighted to introduce myself as the new Principal of St Mary’s Secondary School, Baldoyle. I look forward over the coming weeks and years, to us meeting and getting to know one another. I consider it an honour and a privilege to be appointed as Principal of this wonderful school. Certainly the reputation of St Mary’s precedes me and owes much of its prestige to the dedication and commitment of its excellent staff and the unfaltering support of the Parents’ Association.
I am fully cognisant of the enormity of the task before me in succeeding Ms Siobhan O’Connell. She was a remarkable Principal and has a long association with the school both as past pupil and a teacher of many years. Her passion for and deep understanding of the school was clearly evident to me during the handover and is something I shall be keen to emulate. I would like to take this opportunity to wish Siobhan all the best on her retirement.
I would like to thank Mr John Moore, Deputy Principal, for his dedication and commitment in working with Siobhan and the efforts he has made to make the transition as smooth as possible. Indeed, I want to especially thank the Staff for their support, hard work and commitment to teaching and learning. I am looking forward to us working together in to the future and building upon the solid foundations laid down by Siobhan.
The warm welcoming atmosphere of St Mary’s made an immediate impression on me upon my arrival. It is borne from the traditions and ethos of the school, built upon the principles of Christ’s love. Making the educational philosophy of the Sisters of Charity a reality, young girls are given the opportunity to reach their full potential and to flourish. The girls indeed, show all the signs of being exceptionally competent, confident and capable young women.
I wish to maintain, support and build connections with you as parents and guardians of our students. I hope that this year will be about us connecting in conversation, both personally and professionally.
I invite you to meet me at the Parents’ Association Meeting on Tuesday the 3rd of November, in St Mary’s Hall at 7:30pm when the representatives of the parents/guardians will be elected to the Board of Management. I look forward to meeting you and I thank you for your continued support in our combined endeavour to provide an enriching, fulfilling and excellent standard of education to remarkable young women.
Yours sincerely,
Edel Greene,
Principal.
