Operation Christmas Child
Shoe Box Appeal
Shoe Box Appeal
St. Mary’s Secondary School, Baldoyle, has had a long association with the Shoe Box Appeal. This year, our fifth year students organised the project in co-operation with the Religion Department. The teachers involved were Sr. Marie Therese and Ms. Carney. The students responded with great generosity. We thank the students, their parents and the staff for keeping alive in St. Mary’s, the proud tradition of reaching out to those in need.
A number of students are to be commended for their efforts including Samantha Murphy, Shannon Keegan, Tara O’ Reilly, Aoife Dowling and Shauna Hayes.
To mark the occasion, a special ceremony was held to mark the handover of Christmas boxes to the charity, Samaritan’s Purse.
On Friday morning, all the first, second and fifth years attended a Prayer Service in our school chapel. Ms. Siobhan O’ Connell, the Principal, following a short reflection, congratulated the girls for their great efforts.
All the students formed a human chain linking the school to the collection van and the boxes were passed out student to student. It was a great occasion and the girls are delighted that the Christmas boxes are going to countries such as Croatia, Belarus, Lesotho and Mozambique.
The school was delighted with the efforts and response made by all.
Well done girls and thanks to the teachers involved!
