Due to the Covid 19 restrictions over the past two years, our major fund-raising events such as the school walk and other sources of income have been hit very hard, if not decimated.
We want to provide your daughter and all our students in St. Mary’s with the best possible learning resources and would like to purchase a new class set of high spec tablets for our students. The set of tablets will need to be portable and therefore a charging trolley is required. They will also need software.
The overall cost will be in the region of €10,000 for the class set of 30 tablets.
We are looking for this fundraising event to help fund the purchase of this investment which would greatly improve the IT facilities in St. Mary’s. All students need to purchase one ticket.
The Tag Rugby event is a Fun Wellbeing Day in conjunction with Leinster Rugby with whom we have built up a strong partnership over the past few years. On the day there will be music entertainment, a coffee dock, ice cream and a raffle with the main prize being a signed Leinster Rugby jersey. There will be lots of other prizes. Members from the Leinster rugby teams will also visit the event. There will be plenty of great photograph opportunities.
Payments and donations can be made via the school website on EPP.
Many thanks in advance, it should be a great day and we really hope that this fundraiser can make a really significant dent on the cost of the IT improvement for St. Mary’s.

Successful Tag Rugby Fund Raising Day
The Tag Rugby Event was a fantastic day for everyone involved – the students, the Teachers and our partners – Leinster Rugby and in particular Community Rugby Officers, Stephen Costelloe and Mark O’ Sullivan and all the Leinster Branch CROs who attended. We had a special fundraising Tag Rugby Day in Suttonians where students bought a ticket for the day and donations were encouraged from parents. Donations are still arriving and of course further donations would be most welcome.
Since the PE Department, working closely with Leinster Rugby, introduced Tag Rugby in 2018, the sport has gone from strength to strength. The girls have really taken to the sport so much so that our first Tag Rugby Team, the Second Years, became the Dublin Champions in 2019 and were well on the way to defending the championship when Covid broke out in 2020. We have since built up a very strong partnership with Leinster Rugby and have to particularly thank current Leinster Branch CROs Stephen Costelloe and Mark O’ Sullivan and previous CROs Aidan Kearney and Andy Carabini.
We had great weather for the Tag Rugby Day in Suttonians and the planned arrival of the ice cream van was very welcome. The pitches were all set up with a Leinster CRO in charge of a particular pitch. All the various year groups competed against each other and the late entry of a Teacher’s Team into the league meant that all the teams wanted to play the Teachers.
The inexperienced teachers had expected to play just one match but match after match soon saw the emergence of aching bones and sore muscles but teamwork and solidarity and clever substitutions saw them remain unbeaten except for a disputed loss to the Dublin Champions Team who apparently had an additional member in the team – a CRO - that went completed un-noticed by the referee despite protests by the management team of the teachers.
During the break, a raffle was held and there were vouchers on offer but the top prize was a rugby jersey signed by the men’s Leinster Rugby Teams. This was won by Jenniffer Savage. Congratulations Jenniffer!
Sincere thanks to all the school community for the outstanding efforts to raise funds in our Tag Rugby Fundraising event. The total raised to date is close to €5,000; of this €2,000 is a private donation and €500 from a company donation. We are so grateful to all the girls for buying a ticket. There is still time to donate if your daughter missed the event as we hope she will benefit from the technology we buy. We would be very happy to get any further sponsorship.
We have purchased 30 tablets and a tablet trolley to provide the girls with more resources and access to technology. This will facilitate digital literacy, amination and many other dynamic learning activities for the girls. Everyone in the school will benefit from the upgrade and we are now working on our next fundraiser and hopefully another sponsor will emerge.
