Website Revamp Launch, 11 October 2013
The launch of our new website, www.stmarysbaldoyle.org by RTE Presenter, Republic of Telly and former student, Jennifer Maguire, on 11 October was a most memorable occasion in St. Marys.
The previous website had an old operating system that was not user friendly. The new website tells you everything you need to know about St. Mary’s and is a very easy to use website. Although the website content is not finished, we are getting there and it will be updated daily. The website has numerous Twitter and Blog Feeds and the Google Calendar can be added into your own Gmail Account. We are going to develop a strong past Students Section.
The welcome committee consisted of Rebecca O’ Dare, Head Girl and Vanessa Greene, Head of the Computer Club. The Computer Room was absolutely spotless thanks to Fifth Years: Melissa Corrigan, Gemma Judge and Kirsten Nagle. At the launch Siobhan O’ Connell, Principal, began by thanking John Moore, Deputy Principal and Aine Rourke as both had designed the new website. Jennifer was then welcomed back to the school and was thanked for dropping in despite having such a busy schedule. She had a number of interviews lined up about her new role in Priscilla Queen Of The Desert alongside Jason Donovan in the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre due to start this week.
Jennifer spoke about her time in St. Mary’s and noted that she was “terrified” coming back to speak to the students. Her speech was lively and most entertaining and she noted that if she was back in school that she would have worked much harder. Following her speech, Jennifer officially launched the website and was then presented with a bouquet of flowers by her niece, Nicola Smith, Third Year. Following a number of photos, she then went to the canteen where she met some of her former teachers. Many thanks to Aodhan O’ Riordain, TD for attending the launch and helping to make the occasion more memorable.
