First Year Curriculum
Our curriculum for First Year is designed to give students a flavour of many subjects.

 All students study the following subjects on a core basis
  • Maths, Irish, English
  • History, Geography
  • CSPE - Short Course
  • French
  • Science
  • Religion – non exam
  • SPHE
  • Physical Education – Short Course

The following subjects are done on an introductory/taster module basis, each subject is taken for around 3 weeks and the introductory period lasts around 6 weeks.
  • Business,
  • Home Economics
  • Music
  • Art
In mid October, First Year students pick the two option subjects that they really like and take them for their Junior Certificate.  Please note that we are restricted by numbers in some of our option subjects.  We endeavour to ensure your daughter gets her given choice.   Full details of the process are provided to parents at the Assessment Day in January and in mid October
